Between the Masters at Augusta National and the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island, April was already a busy month for professional golf in Georgia and South Carolina, and until 2013, Savannah had also hosted the PGA TOUR Champions event, the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf. For the next five years, Savannah was anxious to welcome another professional golf event. Enter the year 2018, when the inaugural Club Car Championship (initially known as the Savannah Golf Championship) announced that it was going to call Savannah home.

Recognizing RobMark’s success when it was the PGA TOUR’s Legends of Golf media partner, the new tournament’s organizers called upon the RobMark team to help them launch the return of professional golf to Savannah. RobMark worked with the client on a very short timeline to build media and community support by connecting with the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, elected officials, military, volunteers, non-profit organizations, and more.

The inaugural championship was a huge success. Over the next few years, the tournament faced new challenges, from a change in tournament directors to the pandemic and a new tour affiliation before Club Car became the title sponsor of the Korn Ferry Tour’s golf tournament in Savannah. RobMark continued to assist with a smooth transition. In 2024, the Club Car Championship had a $458,336 charitable impact, an event record, and Club Car announced that it had extended its commitment to 2029.
