We have some client-related announcements to share with you today. The Vic Mell/Jim Walsh Foundation is sponsoring a benefit dinner and golf tournament the last weekend in July. The dinner is being held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Kevin Barry’s Pub on River Street starting at 6:00 p.m. The event will feature a pre-dinner wine tasting and dinner with two really interesting speakers, Admiral Jeremiah Denton and Kevin Loughery.

Admiral Denton served in the Vietnam War as a naval aviator and was held captive as a POW for eight years, four of which he served in solitary confinement. Upon his return to the United States, he wrote a book about his experiences and later served as a Republican U.S. Senator for his home state of Alabama. Kevin Loughery is a former professional basketball player and coach. He spent 11 seasons as a player in the NBA with the former Baltimore Bullets, and his coaching experience spans many different teams around the league including the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat. He has coached noteworthy players including Julius Erving, Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins.

The following day, on Saturday, July 31, the 20th Annual Vic Mell/Jim Walsh Golf Tournament will be held at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Course. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m.

Proceeds from both events will benefit the Vic Mell/Jim Walsh Foundation, which provides financial assistance to qualified young men looking to attend Benedictine Military School.
