Exciting news, music lovers! After their successful “American Spirit” concert last month, the Savannah Philharmonic will debut a widely celebrated oratorio entitled “The Dream of Gerontius” on Friday, October 22 at 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Complete with full orchestra, chorus and internationally renowned soloists, this dramatic English masterpiece describes a dying soul on a journey with his guardian angel to meet his Savior. Two really cool things about this piece: It has never been performed in Savannah, and it was recently performed in London for Pope Benedict XVI at Wembley Stadium during his recent trip to England. Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Shannon has even billed the show as “the highlight of the Savannah Philharmonic’s season.” It’s certainly a show you don’t want to miss. Concert tickets are available for purchase at www.savannahphilharmonic.org or by calling (912) 525-5050.  Ticket prices are $35, $50 and $100. Please do not contact the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist for more information. We hope to see you there!
