October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This international event has been happening every October since 1985. Typically through the month, we see an increase in businesses’ generosity, awareness promotions from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society and an abundance of all things pink. This October, in addition to the current awareness campaigns, we will hopefully see something a little different.

DDB Singapore released a series of ads for the Breast Cancer Foundation that is perfectly timed with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These ads feature the familiar logos of our favorite social networks, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. However, the logos are “tweaked” to resemble and promote self-breast exams. The ads also point to an online petition urging the social media giants to actually change their logos temporarily for the cause. The main tagline in these ads is, “If only you checked your breasts as often.”

Do you think this campaign will be successful? Do you think the petition will pass? Robertson & Markowitz Advertising and Public Relations would love to hear from you!
