It’s that time of year again! While ESPN is compiling highlight reels and statistics to make cases for their Heisman Trophy candidates, Wendy’s is accepting applications for its Wendy’s High School Heisman program. Since 1994, Wendy’s has honored high-school senior men and women across the nation for excellence in athletics, academics and community/school leadership. Locally, R&M is proud to work with Wendy’s to promote this campaign through advertising, marketing and media appearances. This year, one male and one female nominee from each school will be announced by October 25. From there, 10 male and 10 female state nominees are announced, and two state finalists are chosen from that group. A judging panel then chooses one male and one female finalist to represent each of the program’s six geographic regions. These 12 finalists will attend the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award Banquet on December 10, in New York City, and the two national winners will be announced at that time. Savannah has participated in the Wendy’s High School Heisman program since 1996. From 2001-2009, we have had 478 local nominees, and since 2000, we have had 33 State Finalists and 4 State Winners. For more information on this program, you can visit the Wendy’s High School Heisman website at www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com. Good luck to all of the applicants and nominees this year!
