The new Facebook Timeline layout is going to be required for all brand pages by this Friday, March 30. While some page admins are avoiding the changes like the plague, others have used it as opportunities to re-introduce their pages to their fans. Always on the social media cutting edge, Savannah’s own destination marketing group, Visit Savannah, has taken the bull by the horns with a very creative use of the new Facebook Timeline layout. The organization held a contest to help decide which photo they would use as their very first cover photo. Participants submitted their own photos of beautiful Savannah sights via email, which were then uploaded into an album on the Visit Savannah Facebook page. The picture with the most "likes" as of tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:00 p.m. will have their photo featured as Visit Savannah’s cover photo. Over 150 photos are featured in this album. What a fun, interactive way to incorporate the new layout while directly marketing Savannah. Great job, Visit Savannah!
